After a really difficult start of the season for the team Hedemann Motorsport with two heavy accidents caused by a guest driver in the first two races this year, they were now finally able to celebrate a first victory at the 5th VLN round.
The Z4M Coupé with regular drivers Heiko Hedemann and Kevin Warum took the start in class V6 from 6th grid position. In the first three race laps already, start driver Kevin Warum dominated the competitors and went into the lead until his first scheduled pit stop after 7 laps. They lost their lead at this first stop to the BMW M3 CSL which had been three seconds behind but had to retire from the race little later. From this moment until the chequered flag came out the team of Hedemann Motorsport was in the lead of their class.
Team manager Heiko Hedemann: „It is very difficult to find the perfect set-up for the Z4M but we finally succeeded in finding the right balance before this race. We are really very happy about this result.” For the first time ever, the use of data acquisition devices with CAN bus probe were made compulsory for single cars in class V6. The BMW Z4M of the team Hedemann Motorsport, too, was fitted with such a data logger which is well known in higher classes. The car managed to cover the complete race distance without any technical problem or damage.
So the team will now have a little more time until the next race to prepare the second BMW Z4M which is currently in the team premises in Aix-la-Chapelle and scheduled to race already end of the season in class V6.
