Four class wins at five participations, and this on the most demanding race track of the world. At the ninth race of the season in the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring, the Hyundai i30 Turbo achieved another victory again in class SP2T. The driver trio Markus Schrick, Jens Dralle and Heiko Hammel had taken the start to the race from pole position in their class. In racing, the i30 Turbo again demonstrated its reliability and moved up by 15 positions in the overall classification in the fight for the class win.

Since three years, the Hyundai heart of motorsport is at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The 20.358 kilometres long asphalt track with 33 left hand bends and 40 right hand corners as well as slopes up to 17 percent do not put high requirements onto the driving skills but also on engineering. “The Nordschleife provides the perfect terrain to test our cars under racing conditions and to test their reliability”, says Markus Schrick, Hyundai Motor Deutschland Managing Director. The 55-years-old, an automobile manager with petrol in his blood, is himself part of the drivers’ team in the Hyundai i30 Turbo at the VLN races.

After the successful participation of the Hyundai Veloster Turbo in the past two years, since the beginning of the 2015 season, Hyundai now additionally enters the volume model i30 in the version with the 1.6 petrol engine with turbo. The 230 horse power strong race car that is prepared by the experienced team of the Hyundai car dealership Schumann scored four wins in class SP2T at five starts in its first year. During the highlight of the season, the 24 Hour Race, the car gained the total of 76 positions despite a longer pit stop after an accident and completed more than 3,000 kilometres in demanding racing conditions. “The i30 has demonstrated its quality and reliability”, says Markus Schrick.
