ROWE RACING has again entered two gullwing race cars for the second round of the current VLN series. With a superior third place, the racing team based in Worms in Germany again confirmed that they absolutely belong to the favourites for the 24 Hour Race.

Already in the morning time practice Nico Bastian, Klaus Graf, Christian Hohenadel and Thomas Jäger (all from Germany) sharing the cockpit of the ROWE RACING SLS with start number 7 demonstrated that they were in excellent form when the driver trio achieved seventh grid position.

Start driver Christian Hohenadel then went into the lead in the third race lap. Klaus Graf who took over the steering wheel from Hohenadel managed to keep the gullwing number 7 further in the leading group. After another driver change, Thomas Jäger then continued the excellent performance of the team. When it started to rain heavily in the last third of the race, Jäger took the unscheduled pit stop without any problems and was able to hand over the race car to final driver Nico Bastian in the lead. After some exciting fights in the top group, Bastian finally took the chequered flag after 26 laps in third place.

The performance of the sister car with start number 6 was not governed by the same favourable terms at this second VLN race. Start driver Renner van der Zande (Netherlands) had a perfect start from 16th grid position and moved up into the top three already after the first race lap. After a race time of half an hour, the ROWE RACING gullwing was involved in a collision with the Black Falcon start number 2 in which they were not at fault. Van der Zande and his team mates Maro Engel and Jan Seyffarth (both from Germany) were unfortunately not able to continue in the race.

ROWE RACING team principal Hans-Peter Naundorf: “That was really an eventful race today with many ups and downs. With car number 7, we dominated the first half of today’s race over long distances – the strong performance was finally rewarded with a third place. The whole team has delivered a great performance and we also handled the new safety provisions perfectly. We are already looking forward to the 24 Hour Race in three weeks’ time!”

The next round for ROWE RACING at the Nürburgring Nordschleife will be the ADAC Zurich 24 Hour Race to take place from 14 to 17 May 2015. The team of ROWE RACING successfully finished on the winners’ podium in the previous two years at this season highlight in racing.
