The traditional VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring (VLN), which is so popular with racing drivers, racing teams and all motorsport fans, will in 2015 again be organised at the Nürburgring. Last weekend, on occasion of the annual VLN prizegiving ceremony with about 700 guests, the capricorn NÜRBURGRING GmbH (CNG) and the VLN have entered into a new agreement for the racing season 2015. The VLN championship will thus again run at the famous Nürbugring Nordschleife and Grand Prix Circuit.
“I am delighted to welcome the VLN at the Nürburgring next year as the VLN constitutes the core of motorsport at the Nürburgring, both for professional and for private drivers”, says Carsten Schumacher, CNG Managing Director. With the new one year agreement after intensive negotiations in great mutual confidence, Carsten Schumacher and Karl Mauer, VLN Managing Director, have provided the foundation for a partnership to last over the next years. “The VLN is happy to have now finalized the agreement with the new circuit management of the Nürburgring. The general conditions for the 2015 season are in place and allow for a long-term planning. This is an important signal, also with regard to our co-operation in the future”, says Karl Mauer.
The year 2015 will be the 39th season for the VLN series. The calendar will next year again include ten rounds. The more than 20 kilometres long ‘Green Hell’, as the triple Formula 1 World Champion Jackie Steward once described the Nürburgring Nordschleife full of reverence, is the outstanding and unique feature of the endurance racing championship. The myth of this unique asphalt track with the series of corners winding through the soft hills in the Eifel in this one-of-a-kind manner attracts drivers and spectators likewise from all over the world. With the agreement that was signed last weekend, a common success story will thus go on.
“The Nürburgring will start the new season at the side of a new majority shareholder and we are delighted to have an internationally well-known investor who does not only have a passion for motorsport but also provides clear and solid structures with his financial commitment to the Nürburgring. The organisers, too, have understood this situation which provides a lot of confidence. The VLN agreement constitutes a confirmation hereof and further agreements will follow”, adds Schumacher. The new contract with the VLN thus leads the way and marks the first step for the pending conclusion of further agreements with racing series and motorsport clubs.
All motorsport fans can look forward to exciting weekends at the Nürburgring in 2015. The great variety in the categories of race cars herby provides a special fascination for the spectators. The involvement of about 30 different car manufacturers in the endurance racing championship range from production competition touring cars up to the most developed and sophisticated race cars. In addition to the German classical race cars of Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Opel and Porsche it is in particular the sports cars of Aston Martin, Corvette and Ferrari which provide a very much appreciated touch of colour in the start lists.
The fan-friendliness is a characteristic feature in the VLN. Tickets are available at the price of 15 euro and provide access to the open grandstands at the Grand Prix Circuit as well as to the paddocks. Children up to 14 years have free entry. The entry all around the Nordschleife, too, is free. All visitors in the paddocks can see the action on the race day at very close range. Access to the pits is free and the fans can follow the hustle and bustle in the pit lane from close-up. A special experience is also always the promenade in the starting grid. This is where motorsport provides its full range of fascination and the prevailing tension can be felt everywhere.
