Pure excitement at the ninth round of the TMG GT86 Cup season at the Nürburgring. Vantage Motorsport with siblings Sarah and Nigel Moore as well as Arne Hoffmeister and Fabian Wrabetz of the Team Dörr Motorsport provided a fantastic battle about the victory. After several changes in the lead during the four hour race which ran within the VLN endurance racing championship, the driver duo from Great Britain finally dominated the fight and scored their fourth win of the current season.
With a gap of only 39 seconds behind finished the team in the Toyota with start number 534 entered by Dörr Motorsport. In third place and thus completing the podium finished this time Cup titleholder Jutta Beisiegel with her colleagues Martin Schornia and Pawel Ledwon of the team Leutheuser Racing&Events.
Right after the start a thrilling fight started between the two TMG GT86 CS-V3 of Vantage and Dorr Motorsport. Once again, Nigel Moore in the Toyota with start number 539 had gained pole position. However, the British driver did this time not succeed in the race in moving away from his chasing rivals. Quite the contrary and depending on the traffic at the Nordschleife and on the pit strategy, the lead changed several times between the British team and the Cup championship leaders. After three hours race time, the advance of the Dörr driver trio holding first place at that time was not more than six tenths of a second.
“That was an extremely competitive race today and we definitely had to fight harder than ever to achieve this success in the TMG GT86 Cup. We are very proud of our performance. We have found a perfect set-up and the car was running without any problem throughout the whole weekend,” said Nigel Moore happily regarding their result. Like in all races, a decisive contribution to that performance was again made by Cup partner Bilstein (dampers) and Eibach (springs) who, as suppliers of the suspension components, provide a perfect basis for racing at the Nordschleife for all of the cars in the TMG GT86 Cup. Sarah Moore nevertheless found a fly in the ointment after taking the chequered flag: “It is a pity that we hardly have a chance to still win the Cup overall classification despite our meanwhile four top results, but we had to retire in the second race. A fifth win at the season finale on 25th October is now our target”, said the fast British lady driver.
„It was an exciting race. If course, we would have preferred to win but we had to slow down a little towards the end to economise fuel because we would otherwise probably have had to stop for another refuelling stop. This is why we unfortunately lost our small advance”, informed Arne Hoffmeister after the race. The Team Dörr Motorsport can however well live with this second place as their direct competitors Alexander and Wolfgang Kudrass finished the event without scoring any points due to an off in the first lap. So Arne Hoffmeister and his team mate confirmed their position in the lead. The final decision about the championship win will however be taken in the last race of the year only, just like last year when the make cup was introduced.
