An new grade of licences will be introduced in the year 2015 for all participants in the qualifying rounds of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring and in the ADAC Zurich 24h Race. The DMSB Board took the decision to implement the ‘DMSB Licence Nordschleife’ amongst others upon the proposal of the VLN.
The licence is intended to ensure a better preparation for the participants regarding the particularities of the track and thus to increase safety. The adopted concept provides for two grades of this special licence which shall be eligible to participate in two divisions of cars depending on their corresponding power-weight ratios. Newcomers at the Nordschleife will first of all be allocated a restricted licence with the lower grade on condition that they have completed an additional training or a minimum number of performance tests. These drivers will have to collect some experience in ‘smaller’ cars before they will be allowed to change to more powerful race cars.
Special provisions are applicable for drivers holding a licence grade B (or higher). They will have the possibility to get the licence with the higher grade right away upon participation in an additional training at the Nordschleife. Transitional rules will also be applied for drivers who are experienced in the VLN. The DMSB licence Nordschleife will be issued to these drivers without any requirements of qualification and they will be eligible to participate in the engine-power class in which they had been competing previously.
