The problems seem to be sorted out. After a difficult start of the season and the obviously liberating success at the 3rd round of the TMG GT86 Cup, the Team Vantage Motorsport, which has joined the Cup at the beginning of the season only, took the chequered flag again as winners in this fourth race of the year. They scored the win prematurely as the 45th Adenauer ADAC Simfy Trophy was stopped after a little more than three hours race time due to an accident which did not have any serious consequences for the drivers involved. Vantage Motorsport with siblings Sarah and Nigel Moore in the cockpit of the TMG GT86 CS-V3 thus became the first double winners this season in the TMG GT86 cup. Into second place finished Alexander and Wolfgang Kudrass with Martin Tschornia competing for the team Leutheuser Racing&Events ahead of the father and son driver duo Wolfgang and Kevin Hönscheid (WH-Motorsport).
The superiority of the British team was this time particularly impressive. Nigel Moore, who had to take the start from second position only after having previously taken three successive pole positions dominated the race right from the start. The fast man from Great Britain took the lead in the TMG GT86 Cup class right away in the first lap and continuously extended it throughout the further running of the race. The victory was by the way this time gained by Nigel Moore alone. Exactly at the moment when he was on the way back to the pits to change to Sarah, the race was stopped. “Today, everything was running almost perfectly. Whilst we still had some smaller setup problems in the qualifying, the race went really great”, said Moore happily after the prizegiving. “This was not at all an easy race. You must never lose concentration at the Nordschleife, not even for a second, otherwise the race will abruptly be over.” A glance at the VLN overall standings shows how successful Vantage Motorsport’s performance was this time. Moore had started the race from 138th position amongst the field comprising the total of 207 starters. When the race was stopped after about 200 minutes, the car of Vantage Motorsport was already 93th overall.
Whilst the TMG GT86 CS-V3 with number 539 had a lonely race at the front of the Cup class, there was an exciting fight going on about the positions on the podium. The two cars of Leutheuser Racing&Events with start numbers 540 and 545, WH-Motorsport (start number 538) and the Toyota Swiss Racing Team (532) were involved in a fantastic battle. They were temporarily chasing each other within sight and at distances of a few seconds only before the red flag was put out and the fight found an unexpected end.
Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motosport: “Today, we have once again seen everything that makes motorsport so fascinating. Fascinating race cars, speed and exciting duels in perfect conditions at the Nürburgring. Congratulations to the winners of Vantage Motorsport for a first-class performance. After a start in our TMG GT86 Cup which was not without problems, Vantage Motorsport has quickly become a team to beat. I am sure that our established Cup teams will take this as a challenge and keep on attacking at the next race after the summer break on 5th July.”
