Another strong performance of the Ring-Racing-Lexus

Ring Racing had entered four cars last weekend at the fifth VLN round of the year 2012 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The fastest car after four hours racing time was the Lexus IS-F into second class position. The three Renault Clio were suffering some problems, with Pierre Moret finishing with the best result and into a remarkable fifth position in class Cup3.

After 24 race laps at the „Green Hell“, the driver trio Uwe Kleen, Klaus Völker and Kazunori Yamauchi took the chequered flag into second position in class SP8. The completely revised Lexus continued to show an upwards trend at the 52nd ADAC Reinoldus-Langstreckenrennen; With new suspension components and an optimized evaluation of the telemetry data, the Japanese race car set a fastest lap time of 9:24.991 minutes. Further improvements and developments are scheduled for the second half of the season.

Even though Pierre Moret scored the best result of the team with his fifth place in the Clio class, the race driver from Switzerland was a little reserved after the race; “I couldn’t really find my rhythm this time and did the race as solo driver. I am myself quite surprised about the fifth place.” With his fastest time of 10:05.564 minutes, the Ring-Racing driver was amongst the top drivers in class Cup3.

The two other Renault Clio entered by the team from Boxberg were struggling with some problems; “Engel” and “Bengel” from Cologne had an accident in the race but avoided a bigger damage on their about 200 Hp strong race car in sliding along the guardrails. After the necessary repair in the pits, they rejoined the race and finished the fifth VLN round in 13th class position.

Just behind, in place 15 out of 18 starters, Horst and Helmut Baumann crossed the finish line. Normally, the brothers are always finishing in top positions but this time suffered some problems with the shifter knob in practice already, before they were additionally slowed down when the car was also loosing power. Helmut Baumann said after the race: “We must now identify the problem. We were so much slowed down in the race, that was really no fun at all.”

For the next VLN race on 21st July, Ring Racing will probably enter two Renault Clio and the Lexus IS-F for the Nordschleife.
