The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 with the driver duo Jan Seyffarth (Querfurt/ Germany) and Alexander Roloff (Berlin/ Germany) had taken the start to the race from sixth position on the grid. Due to a perfect start, Jan Seyffarth right away gained three positions. During the further running of the race, the crew was temporarily even found in the lead before they finally finished into a brilliant second place at the end of the four hours race distance. This was at the same time the best result of ROWE RACING in the current season. Furthermore, the SLS AMG GT3 again was the fastest Mercedes-Benz and the best Dunlop team in the field which figured more than 170 cars.
Bad luck in contrast for the second car of the racing team, based in Bubenheim/ Germany. In the morning qualifying, the sister car driven by Michael Zehe (Flörsheim-Dalsheim/ Germany), Marko Hartung (Wallroda/ Germany) and Roland Rehfeld (Blankenfelde/ Germany) scored ninth place and thus also finished in the top ten. The driver trio was able to defend their ninth start position successfully before they had to retire in fourth lap due to an accident.
ROWE RACING team manager Hans-Peter Naundort: „I am very happy with the place on the podium. Our drivers have applied our strategy perfectly and have done a brilliant job in the race. The retirement of our second car of course is a pity. Racing incidents are certainly annoying but they are part of motorsports. All in all, we nevertheless take a positive summary: The good qualifying, our second place and the fact that after the 24h Race we had this time again been in the lead are a confirmation of the brilliant work of our whole team. I am proud that ROWE RACING has become firmly established in the top teams of Europeans greatest clubsport racing series in such a short time.”
