VLN Managing Board with new dual leadership

A reorganisation in the VLN managing board was decided during the annual general meeting. The post in the managing board with main focus on operative issues and finances will be taken over by Dietmar Busch (Radevormwald/ Germany). Karl Mauer (Ahütte) will assume the responsibilities as second managing director in the field of marketing. Rolf Krimpmann (Gladbeck) was confirmed in his duties as deputy chairman of the shareholders.

On the 1st of August 2011, Busch and Mauer will succeed Robert Rust (Merzenich) and his deputy Bernd Burkhard (Jülich), both on duty for the VLN as managing directors from 2008 until 2011. “We wish to thank Robert Rust and Bernd Burkhard for the excellent work which they have done”, says Jürgen Hilgeland, spokesman of the VLN shareholders. “Under their direction, the VLN endurance racing championship has made a big step forwards during the past three years and we hope that they will continue to actively contribute to the future of VLN as delegates in the Renngemeinschaft Düren e.V. im DMV.”

Dietmar Busch has a diploma in business administration and works as freelance regional manager of the Landes-Bausparkasse West for the areas of Remscheid, Radevormwald and Hückenwagen. Furthermore, he serves as chairman in the board of directors of the Radevormwald public services and is engaged in local affairs. Since 1991, Busch has been closely connected to motor sports through the automobile sport club ACAS Schwelm e.V. im ADAC. Within the VLN series, Busch last coordinated the deployment of the official cars of Race Control.

Karl Mauer started his professional career as sports editor for the General Anzeiger Bonn. From 1978 until 1985, he acted as chief editor at the company Motorpresse Stuttgart for the magazine ‘sport auto’ as well as ‘Motorrad’. In 1985, he became director of the Adam Opel AG press department. He remained faithful to the Rüsselsheim company, amongst others as director of the motorsport department in the years from 1989 until 1992, until he retired. Today, he is working as freelance journalist. In his active career, Mauer achieved an overall victory at the Nürburgring 24h Race in 1979 and many class wins in the endurance racing championship.

Hans-Jürgen Hilgeland (Enneptal) and his deputy Peter Bröcher (Olpe) were confirmed by the VLN delegates in their duties in the field of sports.
