At the fifth round of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring, the team of Sesterheim Racing successfully followed up their previous upward trend. Dominik Brinkmann and Stefan Epp were delighted to celebrate their first victory of the season at the end of the race which was stopped twelve minutes before the scheduled end due to rain and hail.

The pole position in the morning timed practice session was gained by Holger Goedicke, Mathias Schläppi and Ronny Jost but Stefan Epp then went into the lead after the race start and completed lap by lap without any problem. After the driver’s change, Dominik Brinkman was able to go the same constant and quick pace as his team mate and made the success for Sesterheim Racing perfect. “I took over the steering wheel from Stefan with a comfortable lead and was thus able to stay in the lead until the chequered flag came out. Everything was really super for us today and we are very happy”, said Brinkmann whose eyes were sparkling with joy.

„Even though I was able to close the gap again in the final section of the race, Domink and Stean finally had just been quicker“, was the respectful comment of Elmar Jurek. “Position two is of course also a very good result for us. We have scored important championship points and are still in the leading position”, said a happy Jurek who competed together with Jannik Olivo in the Renault Clio entered by TKS Motorsport. The podium was completed by Goedicke, Schläppi and Jost who thus also scored important points for the Renault Sport Speed Trophy classification.

A good reason to celebrate had also Jana Meiswinkel and Ernst Berg. The crew entered by the Team ATM-Motorsport was able to stop their series of bad luck with their problems in the past and finished into eighth place. “This is a good motivation for our team. It is great that we could demonstrate that we are able to go the pace of the top field”, said a relieved Meiswinkel.

The team of Ring Racing scored several successful results at the same time. The entrant which represented one of the biggest teams in class Cup3 scored an enjoyable fifth place achieved by the drivers Jean-Jacques Meyer and Uwe Kleen. The brothers Helmut and Horst Baumann who also competed for Ring Racing took the chequered flag into seventh position. Whilst Pierre Moret as solo driver crossed the finish line in place 16, the fourth Clio entered by Ring Racing and driven by “Engel” and “Bengel” unfortunately had to retire from the race,

With 114 points, Jurekt and Olivo are leading the Renault Sport Speed Trophy classification, followed by Brinkmann and Epp (102 points) ahead of Goedicke, Schläppi and Jost (67 points). Renault MotorSport is now looking forward to its Renault Race Festival as supporting event during the ADAC Zurich 24h Race (23rd to 26th June) which will definitely represent the season highlight at the legendary Nordschleife.
