Their excellent result could not have been better: The two Peugeot RCZ 2.0 HDi FAP of the team Peugeot RCZ Nokia dominated the action within the group of Diesel cars at the second round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring and celebrated a superior one-two win in the end. Michael Bohrer, Stéphane Caillet and Jürgen Nett finished the race with an advance of one lap ahead of Olivier Perez, Alexandre Prémat and Guillaume Roman.
Alexandre Prémat positively surprised by the RCZ
Former DTM driver Prémat had his first race participation with a Diesel touring car at the most demanding race track in the world. “This is a genuine race car, it is really great fun”, said the 29 years old Frenchman. “Acceleration, torque, grip: I was positively surprised by the competitive characteristics of the Peugeot.” Prémat started the race in the black Peugeot RCZ 2.0 HDi FAP and went right into the lead ahead of Stéphane Caillet in the white RCZ sister car.
The two competitive sport coupé vehicles of the team dominated the race action during the four hours distance and did not open the door for their competitors. “I must pay a big compliment to our tyre partner Kumho: The variation in the lap times during my complete stint were never more than two seconds, and this regarding the lap distance of more than 24 kilometres”, said a happy Nürgen Nett who also scored the fastest race lap time with 10:05,103 minutes. “The balance of our Peugeot RCZ is simply perfect.”
In qualifying, the pole position was achieved by Michael Bohrer with a time of 9:55,224 minutes. “Due to our new spoiler adjustment, we have a better top speed now but still have the usual grip in the corners”, informed the 27 years old race driver.
207 RC \”VLN\”: Third class position for A.R.E.D. Motorsport
In the class of 24h Specials up to 1600 cc with turbo, Ralf Bettendorf, Ronny Tobler and Jürg Tobler took the chequered flag into a fantastic third class position. The crew in the Peugeot 207 RC entered by A.R.E.D. Motorsport was always racing into the top three and encountered no problem at all during the race. After a collision in third lap at the Grand Prix Circuit, Dr. Joachim Steidel and Jens Rarbach dropped back into a hopeless position as the front left suspension was damaged. After a repair time of about 55 minutes, the Peugeot 207 RC of Fleper Motorsport rejoined the race but had to finally stop in the last hour of the race.
