Let’s continue: KW 6h ADAC Ruhr Cup race heralds the start of the second half of the season

The ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) returns after the summer break – and with a highlight right from the start: The KW 6h ADAC Ruhr-Pokal race on August 16, 2025 promises to be particularly exciting, as it will cover a distance that is 50 percent longer, lasting six hours. The sixth of a total of ten races this season on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife is being organized by MSC Ruhrblitz Bochum.

Fans of the popular Nordschleife racing series can look forward to seeing the spectacular GT3 race cars from Audi, Ford, Porsche, and Lamborghini again. And while the frontrunners battle it out for the day’s victory, the drivers and teams in the “smaller” classes will be fighting for wins and trophies of their own. Tickets for the race are available from 25 euros at VLN.de/tickets. Admission is free for young people up to and including the age of 14. Those who cannot be there in person will have the opportunity to follow the entire race day via a free livestream on VLN.de.

Falken Motorsports feierte in diesem Jahr bereits zwei Siege – darunter ein Doppelsieg beim Auftaktrennen

Can Porsche continue its winning streak?

After five consecutive victories, Porsche is in a strong position, but the competition senses an opportunity. Leading the pack is Team Falken Motorsports, which will be competing with two Porsche 911 GT3 R cars and is looking to repeat its two victories this season, including a one-two finish at the season opener. They will be challenged by Haupt Racing Team, which recently celebrated its first victory with the powerful Ford Mustang GT3 in the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring. In SP9 Pro, the local heroes are the most promising opponents in the battle for overall victory in the sixth NLS race. In addition to the “Falcons,” the traditional NLS team Black Falcon will also be fielding a 911 GT3 R. In the SP9-AM class, JUTA Racing and équipe vitesse will each be competing with an Audi R8 LMS GT3. The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo II from the Renazzo Motorsport Team, which is also one of the fastest cars in this class, is sure to be a real eye-catcher.

From the DTM and ADAC GT Masters to the Nordschleife

Fabio Scherer and Emil Gjerdrum have already proven their skills in powerful GT3 cars in the DTM and ADAC GT Masters. Now the Swiss and Norwegian drivers are back in the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series. “My clear goal is to compete in the GT3 there after attending this year’s 24-hour race as a spectator,” says DTM driver Scherer. “The Nordschleife fascinates me enormously: the track, the atmosphere, everything. Ideally, I would like to drive the GT3 on the Nordschleife with HRT this year. But one thing at a time.” The two drivers are earning their Nordschleife permits in the Hyundai i30 N from Walkenhorst Motorsport. They share the cockpit of the Hyundai with start number 466 with Matteo Villagomez.

Two Cup specialists and a fast lady at Four Motors

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS from Four Motors in the AT class also has a strong line-up. The leaders in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany, Alessandro Ghiretti and Robert de Haan, will be joined in the race by Michelle Gatting, who otherwise competes for Iron Dames in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Tabellenführer: Sven Markert und Kevin Wambach gehen als Tabellenführer in die zweite Saisonhälfte der NLS

Excitement in the title race

Current championship leaders Sven Markert and Kevin Wambach have an almost perfect record going into the 6-hour race. They have finished first four times and second once in the BMW M240i Racing Cup. Hot on their heels are Arne Hoffmeister and Tim Scheerbarth, VLN champions in 2011. They also celebrated four victories in the Cup2 class, but slipped up in the 24h Qualifiers with sixth place in the second race on Sunday. Heiko Eichenberg and Harley Haughton in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS from Sorg Rennsport in Cup3 also secured the same number of victories, but only scored zero points once in NLS3.

Tickets and program

Tickets for the KW 6h ADAC Ruhr Cup race are available for €25 (children up to and including 14 years of age free of charge) at vln.de/tickets and at the box office.
