The DMSB has published a list of racing tyres eligible at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. In order to increase safety at the Nordschleife, only the tyres figuring on this list may from now on be used during the events of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring and the 24h Race as well as the 24h Qualification Race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The tyre manufacturers had previously reached an agreement with the DMSB that the DMSB would, before the first VLN race, publish a list of eligible, commercially available tyres supplied by all manufacturers interested to do so. For this purpose, the German Federation had prepared and provided for all manufacturers a corresponding template with model specification and dimensions. The thus published “DMSB list of eligible tyres Nürburgring Nordschleife” comprises all tyres of the brands Bridgestone, Dunlop, Falken, Hankook, Hoosier, Kumho, Michelin and Pirelli, which may be used in all vehicle classes of the VLN and the 24h Race, including the 24h Qualification Race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, pursuant to the DMSB Circuit Regulations Appendix 2 Art. 2 a) paragraph 6.
Provisions are not applicable for GT3 vehicles with valid FIA homologation
Exempt from these provisions are all vehicles with a valid FIA GT3 homologation of the last two homologation periods from 2010 as well as of the classes SP-X and SP Pro. Decisions about particular cases, if any, will be taken by the DMSB after consultation with the Technical Commission.
