A true sensation will come true when the Alzen brothers will be united in one team for the coming season of the Nürburgring endurance racing championship (VLN). ‘Uwe Alzen Automotive’ and ‘Jürgen Alzen Motorsport’ will team up in ‘Alzen-Racing’. The naming of the new team was not chosen randomly but it underlines the family-based structure. Their father Dieter already participated successfully in various racing series in the seventieth with the team ‘Alzen-Racing’. “The merger of our projects into a common team was a logical consequence for us. We both have decades of experience in motorsport and will now all be able to benefit from it”, says Uwe Alzen. And they have high ambitions: The brothers wish to fight for a top overall position with their Ford GT in all of the ten VLN races at the Nordschleife.
This is not the first time that the two VLN veterans join forces. Up to today, the ‘Turbinchen’ is still known amongst the fans of the Nordschleife. Between 2003 and 2005, the brothers competed at the Nürburgring with a highly modified Porsche 966 Turbo and improved the lap record even several times. In the previous season, too, the paths of the two brothers crossed again. At the fifth VLN race, Uwe was driving the Ford GT of his brother Jürgen over the 24.358 kilometers long circuit. The result was a first place for Uwe in Jürgen’s Ford, together with Dominik Schwager.
The brothers will now combine all their efforts so that the Ford GT, which has been entered in the VLN on a regular basis by Jürgen since 2012, just flaps away from its competitors. “Our companies are located in close vicinity to each other and our fields of activity are almost identical”, says Jürgen Alzen. “We are confident that positive synergies will be a result and that we will be able to increase our efficiency to a great extent.” With Philipp Wlazik, one of the regular drivers has already been announced. The brothers will of course also drive the powerful race car around the Nordschleife, Uwe, however, only if he is not sitting behind the steering wheel of the Haribo Mercedes AMG GT. A powerful team with which one has to count in the coming VLN season. The project ‘Alzen Racing’ will be supported by ‘H&R-Spezialfedern’, the brother’s partner since many years.
