The countdown has started. On 14 November, the VLN fan page kart event will take place for the now eighth time. At the unique conclusion of the season in Cologne-Rodenkirchen, motorsport fans will be given the opportunity to compete against some of their idols of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a race. The VLN is the most popular grassroots series in Europe, with an outstanding concept. Apart from breath-taking motorsport action, the VLN endurance racing championship stands above all for an exceptional closeness to the fans. It is true that Tim and Dirk Groneck have been declared the new champions at the final round of the year and the season was thus officially concluded, but with the approaching VLN fan page kart event, the fans may already look forward to the next highlight.
“It is our target to provide an extraordinary conclusion of the season for the fans”, says the organising team. “Anyone coming to the Nürburgring Nordschleife during the season as a spectator to cheer up his idols will now have the chance to get in much closer contact with them at the VLN fan page kart event.”
The total of 48 fans will be given this chance on 14th November at the Kartcenter Cologne. And spectators are of course also most welcome, the entrance is free. The list of starters from amongst the professional drivers includes meanwhile some well-known names. The fans may look forward to meet amongst others the 26 times VLN overall winner Marc Basseng or also the new “double champion” of the Porsche Supercup and the Carrera Cup, Philipp Eng.
Never before in the history of the VLN fan page kart event had there been so many title holders as this year. In addition to Philipp Eng with Maximilian Buhk (Blancpain Sprint Series), Luca Ludwig (ADAC GT Masters), Tim Groneck (VLN), Michele Di Martino (VLN/BMW M235i Racing Cup) and Norbert Fischer (RCN) not less than five additional champions will join them and be at the start. For VLN champion Tim Groneck as well as junior champion Di Martino this will at the same time be a premiere for them at the VLN fan page kart event. They will make their debut on 14th November 2015, just as Michael Schrey, Fabian Hamprecht, Clemens Schmid, Patrick Assenheimer and David Jahn. A comeback will meanwhile be given by Steve Jans from Luxembourg and the expert at the Nordschleife, Lance David Arnold.
With Christian Brück, the man who holds the track record at the Kartcenter Cologne and who will have his home game may of course not be missing. The commentators this year at the VLN fan page kart event will be Wolfgang Drabiniok and Frank Hufstadt who are also the commentators at the Nürburgring 24h Race since a few years. They will be supported by Marc Hennerici as expert for the event and he will definitely provide interesting insights into the view from the side of a race driver.
