The team of rent2Drive-racing showed a convincing performance at the ninth round of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring. They achieved a third place in class SP6 and a second place in class V5.

The qualifying in the morning was still characterized by the typical Eifel weather. At chilly two degrees Celsius and due to the heavy fog, the start had to be delayed. The conditions improved but the team didn’t want to take to big risks in the practice as there were quite some very tricky sections on the track. So both cars finished the practice in mid-field of their respective classes.

rent2Drive-Racing then was quickly catching up in the race. Start driver Bernd Kleeschulte moved up into the lead of his class SP6 with his BMW M3 within a few laps and defended his leading position until the end of his stint. The second driver, Andrei Sidorenko, too, managed to defend their advance first of all perfectly, before the disaster happened. The front brake disc broke and compelled the experienced driver to come to the pits for a change. Unfortunately they lost two positions in their class due to the repair. For final driver Carsten Welschar there was nothing to do apart from keeping their position as the gap to the cars in front was simply too big.

A fantastic start had also Jörg Wiskirchen who was driving the BMW M3 in class V5. At his first start in this race car, he was only beaten by a Porsche Cayman in his first stint which was driven by a crew that include Le Mans winner Earl Bamber. Florian Quante as second driver followed up the perfect performance and also set the fastest lap time for the race car with 9.43 minutes. Team manager David Ackermann completed the last stint of the trio, he proceeded with the brilliant performance and finished second in their class.
