The ninth and thus penultimate round of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring demonstrated again that Racing one is one of fastest teams in their class. Despite the extremely difficult conditions with wet and cold weather the two cars were always in the top group, until the Tracoe-BMW suffered a technical failure. The Afri-Ferrari, in contrast, was running almost perfectly.

“We are very comfortable with second place in class SP8, all the more as our former car has taken the class win”, said team manager Martin Kohlhaas who was very happy considering the performance of his drivers and of his complete crew. The two top positions in their class were finally taken by two Ferrari F458, both prepared by Racing one. The class winner had been sold to another VLN team during the last winter break.

The Tracoe-BMW also showed an excellent performance again. After Dennis Wüsthoff had brought their car in pole position despite the fog in the qualifying, it was Frederic Vervisch who took the start. “One week ago at the Blancpain Sprint Series, Frederic has demonstrated that he is an excellent GT3 driver. In our team, he shows all times that he is as brilliant in smaller cars”, said Kohlhass.

Right from the first lap, though, the Racing one driver had to fight harder than he liked to do. The Tracoe-BMW lost more and more power in each lap. The car finally stopped at the end of lap nine. “Our problem finally turned out to be a massive engine failure”, said the disappointed team manager later.
