The first decision is taken, but even after the early overall victory taken by Arne Hoffmeister and Fabian Wrabetz (Dörr Motorsport) in the TMG GT86 Cup, the ninth race of the TMG GT86 Cup season to take place on 17th October will definitely be exciting. Primarily, the Cup winners who are still unbeaten in the year 2015 wish to complete their excellent records with another success. At the same time, they wish to improve their good position in the fight for the overall victory in the popular VLN endurance racing championship.

In view of the dominance of the Dörr driver duo in the Cup, the extremely fascinating battles about the positions behind the series winners have moved a little into the background. The duels between WH-Motorsport with the father-and-son duo Wolfgang and Kevin Hönscheid and Manuel Amweg with Thomas Lampert in the TMG GT86 CS-V3 of Toyota Swiss Racing had been a true highlight in the last races. “Our young drivers have even improved their performances in the previous races and achieved constant lap times below ten minutes”, said Roland Baumann, team manager of the Toyota team from Switzerland. “In such a close competition as the TMG GT86 Cup, though, you can simply not afford to make any mistake or to retire. And this is what we unfortunately experienced in the seventh race of the season. We are now missing exactly these points. But we won’t give up yet in the fight for second place.”

The Hönscheids indeed finished all of the races so far in the points and scored second position three times in a row. So they are now well established in second place in the table behind Dörr-Motorsport. WH-Motorsport has now an advance of 14 points before the final rounds of the season. “We would have liked to challenge the new champions a little more. But you must also admit and acknowledge that Hoffmeister and Wrabetz have made the best of their possibilities this season and they have deserved their win”, congratulates Wolfgang Hönscheid. “But there is no question that we are absolutely determined to defend our second place. We had been very close to the Dörr team a few times during the season. So maybe we will still succeed in winning a race even though I am of course aware that you can’t always get what you want in racing.”
