There seem to be no way to overcome the predominance of Arne Hoffmeister and Fabian Wrabetz in the current TMG GT86 Cup season. The driver duo of Dörr-Motorsport dominated in all of the classified races in 2015 and celebrated their seventh win in a row today. And for the third successive time, Kevin and Wolfgang Hönscheid (WH-Motorsport) furthermore gained second place. The podium was completed by Manuel Amweg and Thomas Lampert of the Toyota Swiss Racing Team.
The in this season so far unbeaten driver duo Hoffmeister and Wrabetz are now in the lead of the Cup overall classification with the maximum score of 140 points and have gained another early Cup title after their triumph in the last year. In purely arithmetical terms, the father and son duo Hönscheid would still be able to catch up with the points of the top duo of Dörr-Motorsport if they won the two remaining races. Due to the greater number of race wins, Hoffmeister and Wrabetz would nevertheless be the Cup winners. With their class win, Hoffmeister and Wrabetz at the same time also defended their third place in the VLN overall classification.
“Pole position, fastest lap, a race win and on top of this the early victory in the Cup – that was an absolutely perfect day for us”, said Uwe Isert, team manager of Dörr Motorsport, who was really delighted about their success. When we get back home tonight, we will for sure enjoy a beer or two to celebrate this success.” “Today, everything was really running as scheduled”, was also the positive summary of Arne Hoffmeister after the race. “We laid the foundation for the success already with our fastest practice time. After the race start, I was first of all stuck between two BMW. I had a clear track afterwards and could extend our lead.” For his team mate Fabian Wrabetz, too, “it was simply a fantastic race. The car was running perfectly.”
Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport: “Arne Hoffmeister, Fabian Wrabetz and their Team Dörr-Motorsport had a perfect season without any mistakes. They have therefore absolutely deserved the early win in the TMG GT86 Cup. The whole team of Toyota Motorsport congratulates to this absolutely brilliant performance.”
