Following their victory two weeks ago, the brothers Tim and Dirk Groneck (Groneck Motorsport) again won the Cup3 class for Renault Clio Cup vehicles at the final race of the VLN endurance racing championship, the 39th DMV Münsterlandpokal. The new Clio R.S. IV Cup of the team Schrotti Motorsport also scored a successful result again in class SP 2T at the final round of the season.
After having completed not even half an hour race time, the race scheduled to run over four hours had to be interrupted due to fog. After about two hours waiting time, the finale was then restarted for another three hours racing action.
Tim and Dirk Groneck won the Cup2 class for Renault Clio Cup cars with an advance of 6:35 minutes ahead of the father and son driver duo Axel and Max Friedhoff. Lutz Marc Rühl and Jürgen Peter became third, still completing the same number of laps as the winners.
In the ninth race of the series, Peter and Karl Raab achieved their eighth class win with the new Clio R.S. IV Cup car entered in class SP 2T. Robert Lommel, Volker Hanf and Markus Leger with their Clio R.S. III Cup were the winners in class SP 3.
Due to their constant performances, Axel and Max Friedhoff have finished the season as best Renault team in the overall classification with a narrow lead. They are shown in 22nd overall position and with a gap of even less than half a point ahead of last year’s winners Groneck Motorsport.
