When VLN round nine starts at the Nürburgring on October 11 Audi driver Marco Werner can look back on a 30-year-career. On October 13, 1984, he contested his first car race. The then 18-year-old was already familiar with the Nordschleife because he had driven a car of racing legend Klaus Niedzwiedz through the Green Hell even while he was still under age. In his first race, Werner shared a Volkswagen Polo with two dentists and immediately won his class.
From the Nordschleife his career took him to victories in the 24-hour races at Le Mans and Daytona – and back to the Nordschleife. What dream is he still nurturing after so many years? \”I\’d like to be on podium in a VLN race because I\’ve never achieved that so far,\” wishes the driver of the Audi race experience. Maybe Marco Werner will make his wish come true in his anniversary run in the Audi R8 LMS ultra
