Last year’s champions, the Team Groneck Motorsport, had an impressive comeback at the 37th RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen and scored a win the class Cup 3 which is open for the Renault Clio Cup race cars.
In the timed practice already, the brothers Tim and Dirk Groneck set the pole within their class with an impressive time of 9:34.968 minutes. Groneck Motorsport dominated the action ahead of the team Schläppi Race-Tec in the four hour race and won with an advance of about one and a half minutes ahead of Mathias Schläppi and Holger Goedicke. Schläppi Race-Tec thus remains the best Cup 3 Team in the VLN overall classification. The third place went to the father-and-son driver duo with Axel and Max Friedhoff who were the winners in the two previous rounds.
The new Clio R.S. IV Cup of Schrotti Motorsport won class SP2T for the sixth time in a row. Peter Utsch and Karl Raab this time dominated the works Hyundai Veloster. Peter Utsch is currently the best Renault driver in the overall classification, shown in 25th place.
Class SP3, too, was dominated by the Renault cars. Gerrit Holthaus won with an advance of almost 13 seconds ahead of Robert Lommel. The podium was completed by Cassandra Reichle as well as Thomas and Tobias Overbeck in third position.
Stephan Epp, Michael Uelwer and Alexander Nolting won class V3 with their Renault Clio. The competition will continue on 23rd August with the highlight of the season, the 6h ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen.
