The 54th ADAC Reinoldus-Langstreckenrennen, fifth round of the VLN endurance racing championship, marks the end of the first half of the season. After a turbulent race, Axel and Max Friedhoff took up the top position on the podium for the vehicles in the Renault Clio R.S. III Cup Class 3 for the second time in a row. Schrott Motorsport again won class SP 3T. In class SP3, too, two Clio finished in the top two.
The race was started with quite a delay and it was stopped after only 2:45 hours driving time. The reason was an accident in the timed practice. A number of drivers had been too fast in a yellow flag sector so that their times had to be deleted. The procedure involved took a lot of time.
Whilst last year’s champions, Tim und Dirk Groneck, finished the timed practice in pole position within their class, they had to retire in the race. Mathias Schläppi and Holger Goedicke, too, had to stop in the race. With an advance of more than one lap, the victory finally went to Axel and Max Friedhoff. The podium was completed by Carlos Hernandez and Volker Hanf as well as Dietmar, Björn and Torsten Hasselwander.
In class SP 2T, Peter Utsch and Sebastian Lhomer in their new Clio R.S. IV Cup car scored their fifth victory in the fifth race. Unfortunately, the driver duo of the team Schrotti Motorsport was this time the only car in their class. Thomas and Tobias Overbeck as well as Cassandra Reichle in their Clio R.S. III Cup were the winners in class SP3, ahead of Robert Lommel and Frank Haack. Stephan Epp, Michael Uelwer and Alexander Nolting finished in second place in class V 3.
Sebastian Lhomer (Schrotti Motorsport, Renault Clio R.S. IV Cup) “The fifth class win in the fifth race! Simply fantastic! It was a crazy race. The track was half wet and half dry. The handling of the car was very good, also with the slicks on the wet sections. I enjoyed in particular overtaking the big cars in the wet sections. It would of course be fantastic if we had more cars in our class next time.”
