Last year’s champions Tim and Dirk Groneck repeated their victory scored two weeks ago in the Cup3 class now at the third round of the VLN endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The 56th ADAC ACAS H&R Cup race generated two further class wins for the Renault teams. With their time set in the timed practice, Mathias Schläppi and Holger Goedicke (Schläppi Race-Tec) won the class internal pole position but after the usual four hours race duration, it was finally Tim and Dirk Groneck who took the victory with an advance of 14 seconds ahead of Schläppi and Goedicke. The driver duo of the team Schläppi Race-Tec lost a lot of time due to a damaged car. Into third place finished again Axel and Max Friedhoff who crossed the finish line one lap behind the winners. Due to their second win in the current season, the Groneck brothers are now shown in seventh overall place in the VLN championship table.
Peter Utsch and Karl Raab won class SP 2T with their new and still not yet fully developed Clio R.S. IV Cup. They were this time not only dominating their competitors in the MINIs, the starting grid also included a Hyundai. This new success means the third class win in the third race for the team of Schrotti Motorsport. Class SP3 was won by Robert Lommel, the solo dirver in a Renault Clio R.S. III Cup.
Karl Raab (Schrotti Motorsport, Renault Clio R.S. IV Cup): “The car was running perfectly today. We did not have any problems. The third class win in the third race is fantastic for us”.
