A new face will strengthen the TMG United VLN series at the Nürburgring. Five selected applicants out of a total of 80 applications received by the TOYOTA Motorposrt GmbH presented themselves to the driver search organised during the first race of the VLN endurance racing championship season (VLN) for a cross-examination performed by a competent motor sport jury. The judging panel included project managers Yves Lötzerich and André Haun and they finally selected 28-years-old Charlotte Wilking from Waltrop/ Germany to compete in six VLN races in a TMG GT86 CS-V3 in class V3.

Charlotte Wilking brings a certain amount of experience in motor sport. She started her career in karting at the age of eight. Since 2007 she has consistently competed in races on the RCN and the VLN. In 2011 and 2012 she participated in the Nürburgring 24 Hour race as team mate of rapper Smudo from the German band Die Fantastischen Vier in his Team Four Motors. \”I am really happy that I have won the driver search and I wish to thank TMG for their confidence in me. I am very much looking forward to my first race at the second VLN race on 12 April and to working together with the team. I am sure that this will be an important step in my motor sport career\”, said Charlotte Wilking regarding her nomination. She will compete in the six races of the season 2014 together with Moritz Oestreich who himself had won the TOYOTA Motorsport GmbG (TMG) driver search last year.

\”All of the five applicant were really qualified and met our requirements. First we short-listed one male and one female driver. the decision was final taken in favour of Charlotte due to her greater experience and her driving skills as reflected in her results and lap times\”, said Yves Lötzerich in justifying their decision. His colleague André Haun added: \”We are looking forward to providing the opportunity to a young woman to gain further racing experience in our team. It is our objective to promote both drivers equally and to bring them onto the same level in terms of driving skills. After all, we want of course to improve our performance and results in the second year of the TMG United project.\”

The team of TMG United is exclusively made up of TOYOTA Motorsport GmbG (TMG) staff members. They are working in various departments of the company and pursue the motor sport project completely in their free time. They are all regularly full-time employed in the motor sport section and use the Team TMG United to apply their knowledge in practice at and on the race track and back in the workshop.
