More than 170 racing cars will use the opportunity on occasion of the VLN Test and Set-Up Session to get a perfect and complete preparation for the new motor sport season in the ‘Green Hell’. The event, for the first time run over two days, hereby gave an impressive foretaste on what the fans may expect this year in the VLN endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring. The diversity of cars ranges from the close-to-production competition touring cars up to the spectacular GT3 race cars competing at the Nordschleife in this unique racing series.
“The engines are finally running again in the Eifel region”, says VLN Chairman Rolf Krimpmann. “We have 292 registered teams and drivers and I am convinced that we will once again experience first-class motor sport action at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.”
On both race days, the test sessions had to be interrupted several times due to accidents, fortunately only with car body damage. The drivers completed endless series of laps during the more than 12 hours of testing. The unanimous opinion of the drivers: “The Nürburgring Nordschleife is in an excellent condition.” This fact is certainly also due to the mild winter.
On 29th March, the kick-off of the 38th season of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring will be given with the 60th ADAC Westfalenfahrt. The 2014 season will then start with its first round covering the distance of four hours. The organising ADAC Westfalen is expecting more than 180 participants for this opening round.
