The new champions Dirk and Tim Groneck received a very warm welcome with standing ovations and frenetic applause by the about 600 invited guests at the VLN annual prizegiving ceremony 2013. VLN members of the Board Dietmar Busch, Karl Mauer, Rolf Krimpmann and Bernd Burkhard presented the impressive winners’ cups to the brothers from Melle near Osnabrück as a reward for their extraordinary sporting performances during the past season.
In addition to the new Champions, the winner of the VLN Junior Trophy, Alexander Mies, the winners of the VLN Production Car Trophy, Rolf Derscheid and Michael Flehmer, as well as the first winners of the VLN Speed Trophy which was introduced this year, the Frikadelli team from Barweiler near the Nürburgring, were equally awarded their well-deserved prizes. Cups were furthermore submitted to the best drivers in the various classes of the VLN and to the winners of the Opel Astra OPC Cup, Mario Merten, and of the TMG GT86 Cup, Jutta Beisiegel and Alexander Kudrass.
In his opening speech, VLN Chairman Rolf Krimpmann thanked all those who have provided an exciting season 2013 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and gave a short outlook on the upcoming season which had its launch already now with the presentation of the new BMW M235i Racing. After the official part, the whole VLN family continued celebrating until the early morning hours.
