Sean Edwards has passed away. The British race driver who had started in the VLN endurance racing championship for the Team Black Falcon in the previous two years and won the Nürburgring 24h Race this year together with the local heroes from Meuspath suffered an accident during a coaching session at the Queensland Raceway near Willowbank in Australia.
In addition to his engagement at the Nordschleife, the 26 years old British driver won the Dubai 24h Races in 2012 and in 2013 with the team Black Falcon. Since 2008, he had placed his main focus on the Porsche Carrera Cup and the Porsche Supercup in which he is currently, one race before the end of the season, leading the drivers’ classification with 18 points.
“It is a tragic moment when such a young and talented race driver is passing away so early”, says VLN Chairman Rolf Krimpmann. “The VLN family has got to know and appreciate Sean Edwards as a charming, cheerful and open-minded man. Out thoughts are with his family to whom we wish much strength to cope with this tragic loss.”
