The participants in the TMG GT86 Cup experienced a turbulent race weekend. The sixth round of the make cup carried out during the 36th RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen was run in very bad weather conditions. Fog, drizzle and a torrential downpour compelled Race Control to stop the race early. Despite the weather conditions, the five participating teams provided exciting fights. Dörr Motorsport had entered two TMG GT86 CS-V3 race cars and took the chequered flag in first (534; Stefan Kenntemich, Dirk Heldemann, Kristian Vetter, Arne Hoffmeister) and fourth (533; Arne Hoffmeister, Fabian Wrabetz, Heiko Hahn) positions. Leutheuser Racing&Events with start number 530 finished second and scored the fastest lap with 10:17.332 minutes. With their points score, Jutta Beisiegel and Alexander Kudrass also regained the lead in the overall championship standings. The top three were completed by Theo Kleen and Andreas Gülden with start number 536 who could not maintain their advantage of starting in pole position in the race.
Jutta Beisiegel (Leutheuser Racing&Events): “On the Nordschleife, once more we had to face the typical weather here in the Eifel region: fog, drizzle, slippery track sections and finally a torrential downpour. The sixth round in the TMG GT86 Cup was clearly dominated by the corresponding tyre strategy. I am all the more happy that our team did such a good job and that my colleague Andreas Kudrass and I were able to regain the championship lead in the overall classification.”
Christoph Wüest (Switzerland) and Rene Lüthi (Switzerland) of the team Toyota Suisse Racing with start number 532 finished the race in fifth place. The Swiss race drivers finished with a time of 3:33:47,652 hours but with a gap of one lap behind the top four. Ludo, Marc and Ken Stessens (Belgium) entered by Renstal Excelsior finished sixth, two laps down.
The sixth race in the TMG GT86 Cup had quite an impact on the drivers’ overall classification: Arne Hoffmeister (24.17 points) lost his lead to Jutta Beisiegel and Alexander Kudrass (both with 27.42 points) and is now shown in third place. Wolfgang Kudrass is second now with 24.50 points. The top positions are very close and the championship will be decided in the next races.
