Manthey-Racing will come back to the endurance racing championship in 2013 with a yellow-green GT3 RSR! The Nine Eleven sports car which both the team and the fans enjoy calling “the fat one” will thus celebrate a widely noted comeback on the race track which Olaf Manthey has once called his “living room”. Jochen Krumbach has been nominated as regular driver in the team from Meuspath near the Nürburgring. He will be supported by Porsche works drivers on a rotational basis who shall help to bring the race car with start number 58 into top positions.
In the jubilee year of the 50 anniversary of the 911, five additional GT3 will be prepared by Manthey to compete in the championship. As a tradition, one of those will be the fast Wochenspiegel Porsche driven by Oliver Kainz, Michael Jacobs and Georg Weiss. No change also in the strong Cup Nine Eleven entered by MR: Wolfgang Kohler and Christian Menzel will again fight for positions at the Eifel race track, just as Frank Kräling and Marc Gindorf. The Porsche armada will be completed by the Pinta-Porsche which joined the team recently and which will be driven by Michael Illbruck and Robert Renauer. Temporary starts are scheduled for the sixth Porsche 911 with VLN newcomers Otto Klohs and Jens Richter.
“Despite our last year’s engagement in the International GT Open, we have always kept open the option to return to the Nordschleife in the colours yellow-green”, says Olaf Manthey who will this year in parallel manage the works participations of the “Porsche AG Team Manthey” in the WEC (World Endurance Championship) and in Le Mans (24 heures). “Our target is to finish on the overall podium in as many races as possible in order to complete the 2013 endurance racing season as the most successful Porsche team.”
According to current information, four Porsche from Meuspath will be at the start of the 24h Race next month.
