After two successful years in a BMW, the 24 years old student of automotive engineering Tim Scheerbarth will this year for the first time change to a Porsche sports car. Together with his team mates Steve Jans and Manuel Metzger he will drive a brand-new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of the year 2012 in the endurance racing championship. The VLN champion of the year 2011will, however, abide by his team Black Falcon which is based nearby the Nürburgring. The 450 HP strong race car will be entered in class SP7 which is expected to figure about 20 vehicles.

“I am tremendously delighted that we were able to prepare a fantastic package again for the VLN endurance racing championship together with the Black Falcon Team TMD Friction and our sponsor Geutebrück. The company with its seat at Windhagen/ Germany develops video security system technology and supports Scheerbarth since last year already. “Last year I have shared a BMW M3 with Steve Jans and a Z4 with Manuel Metzger in 2011. Our Black Falcon Porsche is a development vehicle for Dunlop racing tyres. I am expecting strong competitors and tough fights in the top ten overall”, says Scheerbarth. Even though the 24 years old driver has already completed a huge number of laps at the Nordschleife in a race car and even won the championship in 2011, he is well aware of the strong competition in his class. “There is always a big battle in class SP7 with many very experienced teams such as for example Manthey with the new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR for which some works drivers are expected to be entered, in particular before the ADAC 24h Race. Our Porsche has shown an excellent performance at the 24h Race in Dubai at the beginning of the year so that we, too, should be perfectly prepared for the endurance races in the VLN. I am really looking forward to the new season!”
