The 24 Hour Race at the Nürburgring will in 2013 again be a highlight in the season for BMW Motorsport. In addition to many other BMW teams, Marc VDS Racing will also take up the challenge in the “Green Hell” again. Under the name BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS, the target of the Belgian team after their fourth place last year is a position on the podium at this classical long distance race.

The Marc VDS Racing Team, which had already been successful in the 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series, will be supported by BMW Motorsport in technical respect and also with works drivers experienced at the Nordschleife. In preparation of the 24 Hour Race, the BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS will participate in the test and set-up sessions organised for the VLN endurance racing championship and in the first and third VLN race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

“BMW has always provided an excellent assistance for their customer teams. But this support from the factory is significant for us in many respects”, says the team manager of the BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS, Bas Leinders (Belgium). “First of all, the BMW engineers will provide an even increased support for our work on-site and secondly, BMW works drivers will join our team for the 24 Hour Race at the Nürburgring. Their experience at the Nordschleife will definitely help us a lot.”

In addition to the engagement at the Nürburgring, Leinders and his team will privately take part in the complete season of the Blancpain Endurance Series. Their target in this Series is to fight for the title again after they have only narrowly missed the championship win with the BMW Z4 GT3 in 2012. The highlight of the Blancpain Endurance Series season is the classical 24 Hour Race at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) on 27th and 28th June 2013.
