Nico Bastian (Frankfurt/ Germany) will change from BMW Motorsport to ROWE RACING. With immediate effect, the 22 years old professional race driver changes the Z4 cockpit to a place in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. He will compete for the racing team from Bubenheim/ Germany for at least two years at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, both at the 24 Hour Race and at the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring.
Despite his young age, Nico Basten has already scored many successful results. During the BMW works participation in year’s 24 Hour Race at the Nürburgring, he and his team finished in a remarkable eighth position overall. In the VLN, too, he achieved top results so far; three positions on the podium out of the total of four race participations, including one as a guest starter of the team of ROWE RACING for which he then gained pole position. In 2011, he won the title in the MINI Challenge.
ROWE RACING team manager Hans-Peter Naundorf: “We are delighted to welcome Nico in our team. He will be a big gain for our still young team as we do not only appreciate his pace but also his technical and strategical knowledge in motor sports. Finally, he is a really extremely nice guy who will fit perfectly in our team.”
Nico Bastian: “I am really very much looking forward to the co-operation with such a top team as ROWE RACING and I hope that I may be able to contribute to the continuation of the team’s success. I was able to get a little familiar with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 last season already. It is not only one of the fastest race cars amongst the group of GT3 vehicles but also one of the most emotional cars. I am extremely happy to be part of the AMG family now.”
