The Black Flacon Team which is based in Meuspath near the Nürburgring succeeded in achieving a true dream result at the 9th round of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring. DTM record Champion Bernd Schneider, together with the regular driver in the Black Falcon team Jeroen Bleekemolen, scored an overall victory in the Black Falcon SLS AMG GT3. The brilliant result was completed by the wins of BF juniors Jans, Knechtges and Scheerbarth in the group of VLN series production cars and of the father and son team Schall/ Schall in group H. So not less than seven Black Falcon drivers were able to celebrate their successful results with a champagne spray on the overall winners’ podium. After four hours race time and under perfect conditions, all of the seven Black Falcon race cars had taken the chequered flag without any damages and into top positions.
In addition to the SLS AMG GT3, another Black Falcon car made it in the top ten: At its very first participation in the VLN, the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup driven by Andrii Lebed, Steve Jans and David Jahn and entered by Black Falcon Team TMD Friction finished into seventh overall place and in second position in class SP7 which figured the greatest number of cars.
Another brilliant result was achieved by the Black Falcon BMW in the class of series production cars. With their sixth victory of the season in class V6 up to 3.5 l cylinder capacity, the BF junior drivers Knechtges, Scheerbarth and Jans maintained their chances to gain the VLN overall championship.
At their debut in the Black Falcon M3 CSL, the driver duo of Kaiser and Friedruchs scored a very good 9th place also in class V6 amongst the 19 other strong competitors in this class. In the very competitive class V5 up to 3 litres cylinder capacity, van Rieff and Griffioen had a fantastic race without any mistakes. They finished the race in second class position ahead of ten other competitors. In class V5, too, Glaser/ Bleul finished fifth so that all of the seven Black Falcon race cars finished amongst the first 50% in their respective classes.
The perfect team result was completed by Andreas and Ralf Schall with a class and group victory in their Mercedes 190 EVO which was entered by the Black Falcon partner TMD Friction, just as the Cup Porsche and the BMW standard production cars.
“I am more than happy and very proud of our team performance of today”, said SLS team manager Sean Paul Breslin, “The drivers and the whole team have done a perfect job. A special thank to the Black Falcon staff and the many volunteers which have supported us in such a brilliant manner throughout the whole season.”
The joy about the great success still persists in the team but the team members are already fully committed in preparing the next races. With the Blancpain Endurance Series in Navarra/ Spain and the final of the VLN series, the Black Falcon team has two further top events on their October calendar.
