The joy in the Fugel Team was overwhelming. After the three top results in the first races, the Team Fugel now pursued their series of success at the Nürburgring Nordschleife during the 43rd Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy. Only the retirement of the Honda S2000 spoiled their good overall result a little. After 24 laps and a total driving time of 3:56.51 hours, the Civic managed to finish into first place in class SP3. The highlight of this successful result however is that Markus Engel (Chemnitz/ Germany) and Uwe Wächtler (Hohenstein-Ernstthal/ Germany) have now, after four of ten races, moved into the lead of the VLN championship classification.
The drivers Friedhelm Mihm and Heiko Eichenberg in the Honda S2000 in contrast were disappointed about the running of this weekend’s race. The driver duo was holding second place until the last lap of the race and the one-two victory in class SP3 once more was very close. Virtually. But three kilometres before the finish line, the car had a technical failure in the fuel pump relay.
As they were not able to continue, the Honda S2000 was unfortunately not classified. “We are nevertheless looking forward to the fifth race of the year with optimism as we were able to finish the last 12 races in the lead of our class.” The 52nd ADAC Reinoldus-Langstreckenrennen will take place in two weeks time already and will conclude the first half of the current season of the Nürburgring VLN endurance racing championship.
