After a one month break in racing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Kissling Motorsport started again in the VLN endurance racing championship and finished with a position on the podium. Furthermore, the orange coloured Opel Astra OPC driven by the Fritzsche brothers and Nicole Müllenmeister made it in the top 20 overall.
The team which is based in Bad Münstereifel/ Germany had entered the two Turbo Astra in class SP3T for the 43rd Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy. Heinz-Otto and Jürgen Fritzsche shared the cockpit of the orange coloured car with start number 320 with Nicole Müllenmeister who is also very experienced in racing at the “Green Hell”.
At the beginning of the four hour race, start driver Jürgen Fritzsche had not problem at all to go the same pace as the competitors and established himself in the leading group. His team mates, too, did not make any mistakes during the numerous battles in the VLN field and Heinz-Otto Fritzsche consequently took the chequered flag in the Opel in a safe second position in their class after a three stop strategy. The driver trio furthermore convinced with an 18th overall position and with fast lap times below nine minutes on the 25 kilometres long track combination of the Grand Prix Circuit and the Nordschleife.
As usual, the yellow sister car took also part in the race. Volker Strycek, a legend at the Ring, shared the cockpit of the about 350 HP strong race car with the experienced Hannu Luostarinen and with newcomer Christian Schmitz. After a heavy accident at the beginning of the season, this was the first participation again for Schmitz who also started the race. “It was really a great feeling to be back behind the steering wheel. I am absolutely gripped by the racing virus.” His comeback was however not accompanied by luck. In the last third of the race, the car stopped at the area Hatzenbach with a damaged drive shaft.
Kissling Motorsport has also entered the two Turbo Astra for the next VLN race to take place on 7th July, they will furthermore participate with the close-to-production Opel Astra OPC and a Finnish crew.
