After the annual general meeting of the VLN (Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring – the association made up of the endurance racing series organisers) which took place on 29th May 2012, the VLN Board presents itself in a new configuration apart from the two Managing Directors Dietmar Busch (Radevormwald/ Germany) and Karl Mauer (Ahütte/ Germany). From amongst the eleven VLN Stakeholders, Ralf Krimpmann (Gladbeck/ Germany), previously officiating as Deputy Chairman of the Stakeholders, was elected Chairman. Krimpmann replaces Hans-Jürgen Hilgeland (Ennepteal/ Germany) who did not want to stand for election again for reasons of age. Deputy Chairman is now Bernd Burkhardt (Jülich/ Germany) who thus returns to the VLN Board after a break of one year.

“We wish to thank Hans-Jürgen Hilgeland very much for his long term commitment in the VLN Board”, says Mauer. “As a foundation member of the VLN, Jöckel – this is the nickname under which everybody around the Nürburgring knows him – has significantly contributed to the VLN during the past 35 years. We really hope that he will further accompany the VLN with his experience and his expertise in the future.”

In addition to the Board elections, the management of the areas Sporting Organisation and Technical Matters was also newly assigned. Head of Sport is now Peter Bröcher (Olpe/ Germany) and Bernd Burkhardt will now take care of all technical matters. The newly founded working group “Strategy and Planning” will be chaired by Karl Mauer who, together with a small group and with the assistance of some experts, will prepare the future general strategy of the VLN endurance racing championship.
