Timbuli Racing has completed its preparations to the ADAC Zurich 24h Race at the Nürburgring (17 to 20 May). And if you believe in an old saying at the theatre, everything should turn out to be fine at this highlight of the season for the team from the Eifel region because the running at the rehearsal, the third round of the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring, was far from what they had expected.
“Unfortunately, we had two punctures in the race so that we were forced to come to two unscheduled pit stops”, explained Marc Hennerici. “The fact that we started from 17th position and finally achieved place 11 amongst more than 200 competitors demonstrates that we do not give in even if we suffer some setbacks.” Marco Seefried adds: “Apart from the two damages, our Porsche was running perfectly today, like a clockwork, and we are very confident for the 24h race regarding the performance of the car.”
The strong performance of the sister car was impressively demonstrated by Egon Allgäuer. The experienced truck racer had to catch up from the back of the field. After an infringement in the timed practice, the Timbulli Porsche had to start the race from the last grid position in the first starting group. Allgäuer did not seem to be discouraged by this fact and started to catch up brilliantly. In the very first lap, he hereby gained already 25 positions. He was, however, also slowed down due to a damaged tyre. After the unscheduled pit stop, the gearbox in the 911 Porsche then failed so that he had to stop the race. “Despite all of these problems I had great fun today and the balance of the car was really good,” informed Allgäuer. “I could pass so many cars in such a short time.”
Timbuli Racing is well prepared for the highlight of the season. Both of the Porsche race cars have demonstrated their performance. “The team around our Technical Director Michele Rinaldi will now check both cars in detail and prepare them precisely for the 24h Race”, says Jessica Wolf, Press Relations Officer of Timbuli-Racing. “We take a positive summary after the first third of the current season and we are looking forward to the marathon race in the Eifel region.”
