The VLN test and set-up session on 24th March will this year again represent the kick-off for the new season of the VLN endurance racing championship. One week before the first race, the 59th ADAC Westfalenfahrt to take place on 31st March, the teams of this most popular club racing series in Europe will have the possibility to get prepared to the oncoming challenges at the ‘Green Hell’. At the same time, this is a perfect opportunity for all the fans to finally get a taste of racing again after the long winter break. And anybody wishing to experience the great variety of VLN race cars really close by and to meet the drivers should not miss the VLN presentation in the ring°boulevard. The public event will start at 12 o’clock when several race cars will enter the boulevard directly from the race track. The two VLN track commentators Lars Gutsche and Patrick Simon will guide the fans through the event and present the drivers who will be ready to answer all questions on the stage for about one hour and will happily give autographs.
“The first VLN presentation last year was a great success”, says Dietmar Busch (Radevormwald/ Germany), VLN Operating Managing Director who, together with Karl Mauer (Ahütte/ Germany), will inform the fans about the new points introduced for this season before the race cars then arrive at the Boulevard. “In the ring°boulevard the spectators will then have the possibility to get a very close look onto a number of spectacular cars from our series, independent from the then prevailing weather conditions. Furthermore, some top stars will inform about their new projects for the year 2012 – nobody should miss this fantastic opportunity.”
The participants in this presentation reflect the great variety on the VLN endurance racing championship. Amongst them are the 26 times VLN winner Arno Klasen (Karlshausen/ Germany) in the new McLaren MP4-12C GT3 of the team Dörr-Motorsport, VLN returnee Marc Hennerici (Mayen/ Germany) in a Porsche 911 GT3 R entered by Timbuli-Racing, Jürgen Alzen (Betzdorf/ Germany) and Artur Deutgen (Spain) with their new Ford GT3, Roland Rehfeld (Blankenfelde/ Germany) with the spectacular SLS AMG GT3 gullwing race car prepared by ROWE-Racing, Wolfgang Schuhbauer (Brilon/ Germany), Director of the Aston Martin Test Centre at the Nürburgring, in an Aston Martin V12 Vantage, Christoph Breuer (Nettersheim/ Germany) in the Audi TT-RS of Raeder-Motorsport, Nicole Müllenmeister (Wermelskirchen/ Germany) with an Opel Astra OPC of the team Kissling-Motorsport, the current VLN champion Tim Scheerbarth (Dormagen/ Germany) in a series production BMW entered by Black-Falcon as well as representatives of the Renault CLIO CUP Speed Trophy and of the new VLN Junior Teams around PROsport Performance.
The VLN test and set-up session will start at 9 o’clock and run over the usual combination of the Nürburgring short version and the Nordschleife. More than 180 teams are expected to come to the Ring in order to proceed to a final test of their new race cars until about 16:30hrs. Entrance all around the Nordschleife as well as in the paddocks is free. No fee will either be charged for the public event in the ring°boulevard.
