Even though everything seemed to be very quiet during the winter break all around the team roadrunner racing, busy activities were going on in the premises of the team from Cologne. “I am looking forward to the new season”, said team manager Udo Huppertz. “We plan to compete in the VLN season with three Clio in the class Cup 3 and we will also for the first time enter a Porsche in class SP7. Everyone is just excited to start the new season. We have three years of experience now in our team, so everybody knows his job perfectly.”

The meanwhile four Renault Clio race cars have either been completely newly built or they were further developed. The mechanics around Technical Director Denys Tessmann in particular examined the Fleettec®-Clio very carefully which had recently been so successful scoring two victories in the Clio class Cup3. They wanted to further improve the areas of aerodynamics, axle kinematics and drive train. Denys Tessmann: “We have inspected almost each and every bolt and investigated whether any kind of improvement is possible. In particular the presentation of the car will be quite different compared to last year. We are curious to see the reaction of the other competitors and of the fans. Our main focus, however, is the improvement of the performance. We will see and know more after the set-up session end of March.”

Many drivers from last season have confirmed that they wish to start with roadrunner racing this season again. There are nevertheless more seats still available in Clio race cars. Furthermore, the team will for the first time not compete in a Renault. Roadrunner racing will this year enter a 2011 Porsche Gt3 Cup in class SP7 for a customer.

With the Porsche Zentrum Bensberg, a familiar partner from last year has extended his support for the Porsche project. Managing Director Jens Hawner from the Porsche Zentrum Bensberg comments: “We are totally convinced that with roadrunner we have found the perfect partner for the current motorsport season. The participation of a Porsche Cup car represents for us a further basis of mutual trust and of mutual competence. It is of great significance for us to create for our make the technical transfer between race track and the use in normal road traffic. A Porsche shall never be used in road traffic only, it must always be used in racing as well. The Nürburgring hereby represents a perfect track for extreme loads. With the 24h Race, we will not only expose our material to highest load tests but we will also provide a lot of emotions for our customers regarding the make of Porsche. We can hardly wait to finally start the season there!”
