It has now been confirmed that the second driver in the crew of Uwe Alzen to drive the Porsche GT3 Cup in the 2012 VLN endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring will be Philipp Wlazik. The 25 years old race driver from Gladbeck in Germany is amongst others well-known from the Porsche Carrera Cup and the VLN endurance racing series. He has been competing in Porsche race cars since 2006 and participated in the VLN endurance racing championship last year in the team of Manthey Racing.
This year, he will start at the Nürburgring in a Porsche GT3 Cup together with Uwe Alzen. Their main target is to win the Cup class and to finish amongst the top six overall. Due to his great experience in Porsche race cars and at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Philipp Walzik completes the team of Uwe Alzen Automotive perfectly. Negotiations about their co-operation had started already at the beginning of the season and all the parties involved are now looking forward to exciting races at the Nürburgring.
Uwe Alzen: “Philipp is the perfect second driver for our team. He has collected a lot of experience in Porsche and also at the Nordschleife. We will both push very hard and hope that we will also finish in a good overall position. I am happy to have Philipp aboard and we will all together start our planning for the 2013 season very soon.”
