At the final race of the VLN endurance racing championship 2011, ROWE RACING was once again able to pursue their constantly good performances throughout the current year. After regular positions amongst the top ten in European’s most popular club racing series, the team of the lubricant manufacturer based at Bubenheim/ Germany again finished in a top position at the 36th DMB Münsterlandpokal race.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 with start number 15 and drivers Alexander Roloff (Berlin), Hubert Haupt (Munich) and Roland Rehfeld (Blankenfelde/ Germany) finished in fifth overall position. The sister car, too, driven by Michael Zehe (Flörsheim-Dalsheim/ Germany), Klaus Rader (Munich) and Marco Schelp (Berlin) was able to finish in the top ten with a ninth place overall.

Under good weather conditions and in spring temperatures of 13° C, the gullwing race cars of ROWE RACING took the start from grid positions nine (no. 15) and eleven (no. 13). Whilst start driver Hubert Haupt was able to defend his position, the sister car with start number 13 lost some places in the traffic after the start but was able to move up again later during the race. The two Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 displaying the logo of ROWE MOTOR OIL were thus classified into places seven and fifteen at half-race. The two cars were able to further catch up place by place in the second half of the race and both took the chequered flag in the top ten.

ROWE boss Michael Zehe is happy with the result of the last VLN race: “We were able to show a solid team performance once again today and thus take a positive summary of the season. One overall win and several results in the top 10 show our good starting basis for the year 2012. It was in any case the right step to bring an own team to the start from which we also got a good feedback regarding lubricants. I am very confident that we can even increase our performance next season.”

Team manager Hans-Peter Naundorf adds: „Such a result at the VLN finale is a good motivation for the winter break. Looking back, were are more than happy with the season 2011 and are looking forward to next year when we will attack again at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and in the VLN series. First of all, however, the team will now move to the new hall of the MCG AG (Motorsport Competence Group Aktiengesellschaft) in St. Ingbert.“

A summary of the 10th VLN race will be shown in channel SPORT1 on 8th of November at 17:30hrs.
