At the sixth VLN round of the season 2011 Kissling Motorsport achieved two positions on the podium and both cars finished in the top twenty. The team which is based at Bad Müstereifel was perfectly prepared for the restart after the summer break and completed the turbulent 34th RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen without any problems.
The brothers Heinz-Otto and Jürgen Fritzsche, together with Nicole Müllenmeister in the orange Opel Astra OPC turned out to be the most successful crew in the team of Kissling Motorsport. The trio finished the race which was interrupted twice due to heavy accidents into second position in class SP3T for turbo charged race cars with up to two litres cylinder capacity. In addition, Fritzsche/ Fritzsche/ Müllermeister achieved a 13th place overall with their about 350 HP strong race car amongst the 150 starters.
Jürgen Fritzsche clearly demonstrated the potential of the Opel race car prepared by Kissling Motorsport: He scored a new personal fastest lap and at the same time a new record for the Astra at the 24.433 kilometres long combination of the Grand Prix Circuit and the Nürburgring Nordschleife. In addition, the Kissling Opel with start number 323 managed to move up into sixth overall position in the wet timed practice. He was however not able to defend that position when the track got dry. Fritzsche/ Fritzsche/ Müllenmeister finally gained 13th position on the grid.
The Finnish drivers in the Kissling team, Hannu Luostarinen and Julius Nieminen together with the expert at the Nordschleife Volker Strycek, also made it on the SP3T podium. They finished third amongst the 16 starters in their class and 17th overall. Things did however not look very promising for the three drivers after the start of the sixth VLN race, as start driver Nieminen spun in the first lap at the end of the Line in the first corner. After a fantastic performance, the yellow Astra OPC finally caught up again to the sister car.
Kissling Motor Sport Team Manager Stefan Kissling was very happy with the result after the seven weeks summer break: „During the current season, we had several moments of bad luck and suffered smaller difficulties. Today, everything was running perfectly and we were able to demonstrate our performance. We have achieved everything that was possible.”
The team around Stefan Kissling and the six regular drivers wishes to further improve at the next VLN race on 27th August.
