The team Dörr-Motorsport will enter two McLaren MP4-12C GT3 from the season 2012. A lot or work lies ahead of the team as the perfect setup for the track at the Nordschleife has to be developed in cooperation with the McLaren engineers.
Apart from the racing activities, Dörr Automotive already now counts on McLaren. Appointed as official retailer for the Rhine Main region, Dörr will open a McLaren show room later this year where the new McLaren super sports car will be presented.
The British sports car manufacturer McLaren has released a racing version of the new super sports car MP4-12C for competition in class GT3. Within the framework of the 12C-GT3 development programme, 20 brand new McLaren GT3 cars will be delivered to private racing teams. The team Dörr Motorsport is happy about the possibility to enter right two of these racing cars in the VLN endurance racing championship from the year 2012 and of course at the ADAC 24h Race at the Nürburgring.
“As soon as we knew that there will be a GT3 variant of the new MP4-12C one point was clear for us – we want to have this car! We are now of course more than happy that we have been selected as team to be provided with the car. The many years of hard and enthusiastic efforts are thus appreciated and the development of the team is clearly demonstrated: We started with a BMW 218i Compact and will now use one of the most modern GT3 race cars next season. That is fantastic – and we thus also have the chance on a further development of the team as McLaren exercises motor sport at highest level. We will certainly benefit from this in many regards”, says team manager Rainer Dörr happily.
The MP4-12C GT3 convinces through a revolutionary light-weight one-piece moulded carbon chassis (the “MonoCell”) which cannot be found in any other GT3 car. With the high levels of aerodynamic downforce and performance as well as the intelligent design, the MP4-12C GT3 will set new benchmarks at the Nürburgring.
This is what team manager Rainer Dörr hopes for: “We are of course convinced that we will be very competitive”, he explains. “We rely completely on the McLaren GT development team and are looking forward to the tests with the car at the Nordschleife. McLaren hereby offers us the possibility to fully use their engineers’ competence. Engineers will be appointed to cooperate with our team. This will also bring forward the whole team of Dörr Motorsport“. The two McLaren MP4-12C GT3 will be delivered in time for the 2012 season.
