Class win for Dörr Motorsport

The sixth round of the endurance racing championship Nürburgring, the 34th DMV Grenzlandrennen, could hardly have been more exciting. After the qualifying in the rain, the racing action was mixed up several times first of all after the race was interrupted and then as it was stopped before the scheduled distance had elapsed.

This, however, was not at all a problem for the crew in the BMW Z4 with start number 169 of the team Dörr Motorsport. With a time of 10:15.656 minutes, Pirelli test driver Rudi Adams set fastest time in qualifying in the class of VLN Specials up to 3.5 litres cylinder capacity and brought the BMW Z4 into 17th grid position.

After the race start, start driver Peter Posavac clearly defended the lead in their class and his team mate Stefan Aust, too, who took over the steering wheel of the Z4 after the race interruption kept the pace in the lead. After a little less than three hours driving time, the race was stopped due to an accident at the section Bergwerk in which several cars were involved. Peter Posavac, Stefan Aust and Rudi Adams and the team Dörr Motorsport finished as class winners. After the race, Adams explained: “After our accident at the 24 Hour Race, our mechanics have done a fantastic job and prepared the car perfectly. The handling of the car today was very good after we had changed some details in the set-up. Unfortunately, I did not have much opportunity to drive in the race today, but Peter and Stefan anyhow managed to score a class win.”

Reinhard Prenzel, Fabian Wrabetz and Guido Majewski finished the qualifying session into second class position. In the first part of the race, start driver Majewski was able to go the pace of the class leaders but was stopped due to a damaged fuel pump. After the race interruption, the BMW M3 GT4 was able to rejoin the race.

Bad luck for the rookie team
Felix Körbel, Maximilian Schwarz, Sönke Glöde and Dieter Fabisch were not very lucky at their first participation in the endurance racing championship Nürburgring due to the unfavourable weather conditions. After each of the drivers had completed his obligatory laps, the Mini Cooper Works had an accident at the section Pflanzgarten just before the end of the timed practice and they were hence not able to start the race.

After a mostly perfect season so far, this is the first setback the rookies are suffering. The youngsters in the team Dörr Motorsport will attack again at the next race, the 6h Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen on 27th August.
