The VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring will start the new season 2011 with four new sponsors and partners. ADAC and Zurich Versicherungen will join the series this year and the company Polyphony – the manufacturer behind the Paystation Game ‘Gran Tourismo 5’ – will enlarge their engagement. ‘Gran Tourismo’ will from now on be displayed on the windscreen of the race cars. ADAC and Zurich will be represented on the lefts side of the drivers’ chest as well as on banners and printing materials of this popular series. Audi and Peugeot have also joined the pool of VLN partners. Audi will amongst others provide upgraded series vehicles for the use as intervention cars whilst Peugeot will enrich the championship with the 207 RC Cup as well as with the participation of two Peugeot RCZ 2,0 HDi FAP in all rounds. “The support of new partners is a just as important signal for a strong endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring as is the closer cooperation with our traditional supporters – also for the future”, says VLN managing director Robert Rust.
TV package: Extended broadcasting in Sport1
The VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring has been able to clearly extend the TV presence of the series in 2011, in cooperation with the channel Sport1 and the Wige Media AG. A 30 minutes summary of all ten races will be broadcasted in the German sports channel. “In the centre of interest will be the national and Europe-wide marketing”, informs VLN managing director Robert Rust. “Furthermore, the endurance racing championship will be shown on TV world-wide.“ Matthias Wurm, member of the Wige Event GmbH Board, adds: “The VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft is one of the major items in Fascination Motorsport with a balanced mixture of professional sport and club sport. In addition to our engagement as technical provider in the fields TV production and technical equipment, we are particular happy to support the almost all year round racing events also in the field of sponsoring and to accompany the series on its way into a successful future and thus to be part of the success story.”
For the fans: DVB-T television around the circuit
The fans of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring appreciate it since years: the DVB-T signal which can be received all around the Nürburgring with commercial and portable TV sets. The status of these popular European club sport series events will thus again be enhanced. Due to the application of the most updated technology, even more spectacular pictures will be shown this year.
Partnership with radio RPR will be carried on
The cooperation of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring with Radio RPR will be carried on this season. The fans will have the possibility to follow the track comments of Lars Gutsche and Patrick Simon on Radio Nürburgring 87.7 at all races. Trailers in the RPR1 radio programme will furthermore promote the upcoming races at the respective previous weekends.
New turbo classes for the VLN standard production cars
Two new classes have been introduced in the season 2011 of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring. Since some time already, the medium-term motto of the car manufacturers regarding the type of engine used has been ‘downsizing’. The use of turbochargers in engines with smaller capacities clearly increases the engine performance. The endurance racing championship follows this trend with the introduction of two new classes in the group of VLN standard production cars. Eligible in class V1T will be cars with turbochargers up to 1600 cc cylinder capacity and in class V2T up to 2000 cc cylinder capacity. The variety in choosing their race cars has thus been increased for all participants.
DMSB organises German GT Championship
The DMSB (Deutscher Motor Sport Bund) will organise the German GT Championship (DGTM) for the second time in 2011. The calendar of this series which is getting more and more popular comprises eight rounds. Like in its first year, points can be scored in the ADAC GT Masters as well as in the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring and the ADAC Zurich 24h Race at the Nordschleife.
Sport cups awarded by the VLN partners BMW, Opel and Seat
The VLN partners of BMW, Opel and Porsche will again award sport cups in the 2011 season. The BMW sport cup which has been awarded since the sixtieth provides a special attraction for all privateers entering BMW sports cars. The participation for each BMW driver is free, irrespective of whether the car entered has been purchased from BMW Motorsport or if it has been prepared at some other premises. Motor sport has traditionally been a key issue with Opel. The car manufacturer from Rüsselsheim/ Germany has hence again provided an attractive pool of prize money for the coming season in order to support and honour the great engagement in club racing. Whereas, in addition to the endurance racing championship Nürburgring, other world-wide series are also taken into consideration by BMW and Opel for their respective classifications, the engagement of Seat is focused on the ‘Green Hell’. All homologated Seat race cars registered in the VLN will automatically be classified in the Seat Motor Sport Cup.
PoliPower Cup for group H cars
The PoliPower Cup for group H cars will be carried forward in the 2011 season. After the success of last year, the initiators, Manta driver Peter Haas and his team mates Olaf Beckmann and Bernhard Schmitter, did not have to deliberate for a long time. The regulations were slightly amended so that all registered cars can now score points and their drivers gain awards. This is one more reason to further enter typical and traditional race cars for the competitions at the Nordschleife.
Speedclub Competition 2011
The RTS Racing Trend Service will in 2011 again organise the special classification ‘Speedclub Competition’ during the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring. For the first time this year, cars from all the VLN categories will be eligible. The organiser of the series, Helmut Bolz, will promote the total of 13,000 Euro prize money to be awarded amongst positions one to ten in this special classification. The prizegiving will take place during the annual VLN prizegiving ceremony in December 2011 and the regulations can be found online under www.speed-club.de.
