The VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft started the new season on Saturday, 26th March, with a top-class public event. The VLN press conference organised during the test and set-up session was for the first time open to the public. More than 500 spectators attended the event in the ring°boulevard in order to get a taste of the coming season.

In addition to the great deal of information provided by the organisers, the event included a lot of entertainment. After two sessions of presentation and talk in which the representatives of the VLN Organisation, of the Nürburgring Automotive GmbH, the new VLN sponsors and of TV partner Wige Media AG had given an outlook onto the new season, a group of VLN race cars entered the ring°boulevard for a show provided by Marc Lieb in the Manthey-Porsche, Frank Stippler in the Phoenix-Audi, Kenneth Heyer in the SLS AMG GT3 of the team Black Falcon, Mario Merten with his champion car BMW Z4, Jana Meiswinkel with her new Renault Clio as well as Dieter Weidenbrück in the BMW 325 from VLN standard production class V4. In the focus of interest was special guest Mika Salo, former Formula 1 driver, who presented the P4/5 Competizione of the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus. Another surprise guest was the idol of the public Dirk Adorf who joined the presentation with the brand new BMW VLN pace car. Michael Bohrer arrived without race car but provided a lot of information around his engagement with the Peugeot RCZ 2.0 HDi FAP and answered all the questions posed by presenter Lars Gutsche.

Whilst the race drivers presented their current projects, the fans of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring had the opportunity to get a close look onto the race cars which had come to the ring°boulevard right from their test and set-up session. “A successful launch of the season”, said the happy VLN Managing Director Robert Rust. “We have provided plenty of events for our fans today. The concept has proved to be very successful and we will work on carrying it on in future.”
