The team Peeters Racing based at Griesheim/ Germany will this year contest its seventh season in the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring. Their race car will be the BMW E-90 again which has stood the test in 2010 already. The traditional team members will be joined by two new drivers and two new sponsors could be contracted to support the team in 2011.
The BMW 325i entered by Peeters Racing proved to be very successful in 2010 already and competed in seven of the ten rounds. After a retirement in their first race, things went better and better for the team based in Griesheim/ Germany. The crew participating in the very competitive class V4 of standard production cars up to three litres was even able to finish onto the podium in some races. Team manager Anette Peeters: “The successes achieved last season have shown that we do not need to change very much in the car. We only still have to work on a few details. The design of our race car has however been greatly modified, due to our new sponsors.”
Whilst the car was still completely painted in matt black colour last year, the BMW will this year be designed in matt black and yellow colours for the chase for good lap times and for championship points. “Engine bonnet, boot lid and roof of our car have been provided with a foil in carbon look, all the other components are painted in matt black again.”
The racing team from Griesheim/ Germany intends to participate in all of the ten races of the endurance racing championship. The detailed plan reveals that Marc Peeters, who is very experienced at the Nordschleife and had formerly become fourth in the German Formula C Championship, will take part in each of the races. For the eight races over the distance of four hours, he will hereby be assisted by Martin Müller and newcomer Ingolf Baum. Müller, too, has a lot of experience at the Nordschleife: In his racing career so far, he has participated in several 24h races and has been regular team mate of Peeters since 2007. Both together, they have in the previous years several times managed to finish on the podium. Ingolf Baum is professionally closely related to car industry and has discovered his joy and enthusiasm in motorsport last year.
Anette Peeters comments the engagement of the new driver: “It is always a risk to contract a newcomer as driver, in addition as the Nordschleife is a very demanding race track and not without dangerous sections. Ingolf Baum nevertheless enjoys our confidence and we are sure that he will get familiar both with the car and the race track very quickly.” The team is still looking for some drivers for the two 6h races on 14th May and 27th August as well as for the 4h Races on 11th June and on 15th October. Furthermore, there are still seats available for the 24h Race on 25th and 26th June. Team manager Anette Peeters is confident: “I am convinced that we will still manage to find the drivers for these races so that the 2011 season shall soon be fixed in detail.” The few points which remain still to be cleared do not at all spoil the mood in the team. To the contrary: Each single team member is very much looking forward to the 2nd of April when the 2011 season will start.
