A change for Philipp Wlazik: for this season, the racing driver from Gladbeck is stepping over from the Porsche Carrera Cup into the VLN. He will be competing in the ten season rounds for Manthey Racing. “I am really looking forward to the upcoming season, the co-operation with Manthey Racing and my new race car, the Porsche 911 GT3 R”, says Wlazik, eagerly awaiting the start of the season on April 2nd.
The 24-year old can look back upon a successful motor racing season. In 2010, the student from Gladbeck achieved his best score to date by ending up sixth in Germany’s fastest one-make series.
For Wlazik, changing into the VLN was a logical decision. “During my time in the Porsche Carrera Cup, I was able to learn a lot and to make steady progress. Now, I am still lacking some fine-tuning as a driver.”
And what better place could there be for him to get it than on the world’s most demanding circuit, the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. “Anyone who can prevail on this track is fast anywhere”, Wlazik explains the challenge of the Green Hell. The goal of the 24-year old is not only honing his skills, but also scoring some tangible results. “Together with my to experienced team-mates Marc Gindorf and Jochen Krumbach, we are a strong trio of drivers. Regular top five results should be our goal.”
